Now Sei isn't exactly what mose people (or dragons) would call a normal looking dragon. Yeah she's got the claws, the undeniable thick scale if not fleixble scale, and of course the ability to fly. But that's the main reason of her 'strange-ness'. Sei has no wings; you can look up and down, left and right and you woun't find even a hint of a membrane on her snake-like body. Instead you'll probably just find her sky-blue scales with their lighter companions on her underbelly reaching from her throat down to the 'beginning' of her tail. Looking past that you'll see Sei's wonderful example of a mane and not one of fin or overly large scale but rather of fur. Yup this dragon grows fur despite her reptilian heritage. It doesn't just grow from her forehead to the very tip of her tail but also on her chest and on the back of both her elbows and calves. Speaking of tails, this dragon has the longest tail you'd think you've ever seen and if not then it is most likely the most flexible and Sei uses it for her 'flight'. But thats not all, if you were to look at her claws (well her front ones anyway) anyone could say they look much more like 'hands'; though missing a finger. Three index partnered with a rather human-like thumb. Her thumb isn't as flexible but she can indeed pick up and hold things but she can also hold human tools and weapons.
Now if you look to her head she has the reptilian face with the same sharp and lethal fangs almost all dragons have. She even has the pair of matching horns that stretch backward into little 'curves'. Her eyes are an extremely bright blue that makes her look blind but I can asure you that she is anything but blind. But thats where the normality ends as where her nose is suppose to be, a rather canine looking nose takes the place.Scent glands hide in the sides of her nostrils as the fore-hole is meant for normal breathing. Well mostly normal. Just behind her nose and under her chin grow... whiskers. Long, very whip-like whiskers that look kind of like antenna or something similar. And returning to the semi-normal, are a pair of long ears that grow out from literally right next to her horns. Finally to top it all off are more noticable 'platings' on her nose and fore-arms.
Now for the exciting part, how is this wingless dragoness able to fly? It's actually very quite simple. Sei's skeleton is much like a bird in the way of it's lightness. Her bones are hollow and she actually has fewer organs than most creatures. Its scientifically safe to say the Sei does indeed have all the 'important' organs such as the heart, brain, stomach, liver, bladder, etc. but these organs are reduced in size to most dragon anatomy. Well almost all her organs; her heart, brain, and lungs are actually larger than they should be against the rest of her organs which drains her of energy quicker thanks to limited amount of energy she can consume. But what's odd about her bones is that they are reinforced with a mysterious element. One can't really be sure what element though, only that they are probably as strong or maybe even stronger than normal dragon bones. Even her scales are softer than her bones... (Want an example, get a scale and break it then get a 'shedding' of her horn and try to break that. Its a very noticable difference.') Now, onto how she does 'fly'. It does require wind or even just a small breeze for Sei to just get off the ground but once in the air she moves her body like she's swimming in water. So to put it simpily she basically 'swims' in the air; the feathery fluff on her tail is what propels, angles, and turns her. Her scales actually fan out a bit and thats how she keeps her flight.
Personality
Sei is a rather lazy and wild kind of dragon. She has a curiosity that could rival a mischevious child and yet she has enough sense to know when to turn tail and flee. She's not an idiot even though she will do some rather idiotic things at times. She can be related to a gambler; one who takes risks for their own welfare or the welfare of others at times. So to list what she is in nice simple terms, Sei is a: lazy, but wild and curious dragon who will do some dangerous gambles for her own amusement. She is definitely not one whose against dirty tricks or a bit of 'string pulling.' She's also not really one for 'duty'... You really don't to know her opinion about those who think high and mighty of themselves... Oh how she doesn't like those types...
She's lived long enough to know a life without excitement is no life at all. She's also 'wise' enough to know its not best to dwell on past mistakes or sad events. Even she knows how saddening it is to lose someone close to you. In some ways she can be kind or caring but it usually depends on whether one, she likes you or two, she's in a good mood. She won't coddle anyone, saying that everyone needs to do things on their own but she will give them a nudge to help them on their way. She believes that every 'hatchling' needs to be able to fly on its own. Human or dragon, dog or cat; its all the same to her. She's really heartless against those who think they're better than everyone else and usually whenever she meets them she tries (she really does) to act like she won't rip off their heads at any given second. She'll try her best to act indifferent.
Yet despite all that, Sei has a thing for literal hatchlings, meaning a dragon whose under 100. (In her book, those are still babies to her, 100-600 are like children and 600-999 are the 'bigger children.') For some reason she can't resist an urge to touch a hatchling, she just has to nuzzle or cuddle or at least just touch it. It's like those people who see a cute puppy and they have to touch it. Which is kinda conflicting since she usually doesn't coddle anything or anyone... So this would be her one exceptions. Thankfully she only does that to dragons, many issues would pop up if she had that issue with anything else... especially humans... A loop-hole in her 'system' though are dragons who are 10 and younger where her maternal instinct just kicks in and she has to take care of it... Oh, the problems that she had gotten into for that...
History
Now if one were to think that Sei's egg was found in some other region thanks to her strange appearance, they would be almost right. Her egg was indeed found in a land far to the east from where she is now but she wasn't 'saved' from wilderness. No, her egg was stolen from its nest; whether she had parents to protect her, she doesn't know and will most likely never know. Mainly because the poachers who stole her sold her as a 'rare stone' to a black merchant who somehow managed to sell her an 'exotic gem-collector'. Yet it didn't end there for the man's collection had been robbed by a group of thieves who had fallen on hard times. Out of all the thieves (there were five) only two made it out safely but unfortunately they lost her at the same time of their escape. It was a good thing her egg was as strong as her harder-than-steel bones or else she would've been long since broken.
Now the question is, how did they lose her. Well the thief dropped her egg in an open... sewer... (Eww...) From there, Sei had a rather smooth ride down to the ocean where she was then picked up by another merchant who was taking a ride on a fisherman's boat. Since the fisherman had no use for a large 'stone' the merchant took her as a 'pretty stone'. It was then that Sei traveled west. Once they had nearly reached the land, Sei had actually hatched to the merchant's great suprise. Yet despite his suprised-ness; he tried in all his power to capture her. So in order to be free, the hatchling jumped into the ocean and swam, as unnaturally easy it was for her serpent-body to make to the shore way before the boat itself; Sei had made a safe escape. But being in a land that was not her own not only confused her habitatual senses it also put her at a serious disadvantages and especially so since she was a hatchling.
But thats where the story come to a near close as just with most other dragons of the kingdom; Sei was found by a human of the kingdom and turned in. To be exact it was a guardian on patrol. There Sei lived as one of the 'blue' dragons for her sapphire colored scales but of course all the others either teased her or completely ignored her presense because of her 'strange' looks. As a chick, Sei wondered why she never had wings but it wasn't hard to figure out why. She wasn't like the others. Yes she was a dragon but she just wasn't like them in any other stance. So in the nursery she lived an independent life; knowing that relying on others would only become a type of trickery.
When she was old enough, Sei learned of the 'Bonding' and learned that too would do the same sort of bonding... probably. A glowing white tail or a tail shrouded in darkness. Thankfully the dragoness did indeed have a tail that shone but it was always just darkness. All the way up from her child-hood, past her teens, and now an adult Sei has yet to meet anyone spectacular. Maybe she'll find one someday, maybe she won't but the wish is always there just because of jealousy or maybe just a feeling to be wanted.
