Appearance
A tall young man of a toned, lean build, the first physical trait one would notice if Ryan were to approach would be his height. While not unusually tall, Ryan does indeed stand taller than the average man, walking uprightly at 1.92 metres (approximately 6-foot-4). Ryan has a thick jawline, with an oval-shaped head sporting a clearly shaven face. As mentioned before, Ryan's physique may be categorized as 'toned' and 'lean' - possessing a decent amount of muscle due to his occupation. With a fairly lithe figure, Ryan does not have very broad shoulders as the older men do, yet his supple frame is complacently large.
Ryan's dirty-blonde hair matches his tanned light-brown complexion (a result of his time spent outdoors), and he prefers to have it cut short, with his fringe combed upwards. Ryan is not one of the most handsome young men around, and, in a crowd, may not necessarily appear much different from others his age, yet his dark-green eyes betray a world of emotion concealed within a unique mind. Ryan has a birthmark on his right thigh, above his knee - a small, white streak of discolouration.
Personality
Shy. Ryan has a tendency to avoid large crowds, and will shy away from the spotlight or centre of attention. Generally, he prefers to remain in the background, away from the concentration of social activity. Because of this shy nature of his, Ryan is not very popular, yet he does not see this as a problem in any way. In fact, he believes this works to one's benefit - if one does not have an overly acclaimed reputation, how much can one fear to lose? Rather, Ryan favours spending his time in the midst of the wilderness, and prefers the company of animals and nature to the company of other humans.
Loyal. Despite not having a very outgoing personality, when Ryan makes or finds a friend, it will almost undoubtedly result in faithful devotion to his new companion. This is due to the fact that true, lasting friends are hard to come by with Ryan, and he appreciates every one of the few he has.
Kind-hearted. Ryan's rough, gruff exterior would certainly contrast this facet of his personality, yet, within Ryan, lies a soft, kind heart. Even though he would condone no evil, almost anyone in need deserves help or assistance, in Ryan's opinion. Compassionately, Ryan does his best to aid others around him, enjoying the reward of knowing he did something good. Unfortunately, however, this often gets him into trouble, or leads him to help those who would use or exploit him.
Stubborn. Even though Ryan has a soft heart, this is balanced out with a rather hard head. When his mind is made up, Ryan maintains a resolute, unwavering outlook, and it takes some effort to get him to change his mind or have second thoughts. Often, this stubborn, hard-headed nature of his is much to the annoyance of those around him.
Easily distracted. When Ryan sets his mind to a task, Ryan is quite determined. However, much to his own irritation, Ryan can, at times, be easily distracted, perhaps by a stray thought, or a sudden disturbance, resulting in Ryan's attention gradually drifting away from what he should be focusing on. At times, this can lead to day-dreaming.
History
Ryan does not have a particularly interesting or unique past. Born on a farm nearby the town square, Ryan was raised in a strict household consisting of his father, mother and older brother. Because he is the younger sibling, Ryan was often overlooked by his parents, who granted Ryan's elder brother, the firstborne, more privileges than Ryan was. Because there were not many his age around, Ryan would keep himself occupied outside, exploring, crafting and learning to hunt. At one point in his life, Ryan's then-greatest aspiration was to become a dragon rider, with a dragon of his own. Watching the close bond the riders of the town shared with their dragons, Ryan desired one of his own. Yet, overtime, with lack of any fulfillment, the dream of becoming a rider slowly faded to the back of Ryan's mind. When the ten-year-olds left to go to the nursery to claim their dragons, Ryan missed out on the opportunity, having broken his arm the day prior, and had to remain under the care of his parents for the day. Despite believing his dream is forever shattered, he seldom thinks of what he missed out on, instead focusing on the present.
At the young age of sixteen yet mature enough to make it on his own, Ryan left his household to begin a life of his own as a hunter in the town square. Finding a residence in the form of a lodge in the town square, Ryan stays there now, earning his income by hunting game and selling his goods the town's butcher. Now, at the age of seventeen, Ryan hopes to become something more - perhaps an archer, a ranger, an adventurer. Or, maybe, just maybe, if fate should allow against the odds, a dragon rider.
